The Springwise Newsletter informs us all of another awesome recycling/reuse idea: Keeping surfboards out of landfills with recycling and reuse. We've seen efforts focusing to varying extents on each of the “3Rs” of waste management — reduce, reuse and recycle — but we couldn't resist mentioning one more that recently caught our eye. Refill and Reuse, NO Plastic NO Waste.

No one enjoys lugging those bottles and cases of water into the home, One way to stop water being part of the grocery load is to purchase a reusable water bottle.
Mizu offers a line of eco-friendly stainless steel bottles that are 100% leach resistant, BPA free, stylish and durable enough to be your hydration relation for years to come. The bottles are made from high quality grade #304 stainless steel. Plastic is known to leach a chemical called Bisphenol A (BPA) into liquids, which is able to mimic the female hormone estrogen. Aluminum bottles require epoxy liners, the safety of which is currently being questioned. Stainless steel, however, is both safe and highly durable.
Water is not the only liquid you can put in your mizu bottle, smoothies, juice, wine, sodas or whatever. Just make sure to wash your bottle afterwards. But Mizu bottles are not a thermos and therefore not suitable for hot liquids.
When cleaning, Mizu bottles are completely dishwasher compatible. It is better to wash the caps by hand. Alternatively, wash your bottle with soapy water and a bottle- brush.
Use a filter at home for tasty and pure water. When traveling, use portable water filter.
Before leaving home, fill your 40 oz bottle. It will keep you going for at least half the day.
Coffee shops refill your bottle for free with filtered water.
Always travel with two bottles. That way you will be sure to have a ready stock of water.
When eating at restaurants, have them fill your bottle.
Water fountains can be found all over the place
If you don’t have your bottle around, take a cup of water instead of buying the plastic bottle.
Soda machines almost always have a filtered water spout for free.
Finally, don’t get sucked in – tap water is almost always good and free and accessible!
Stash Mizu in your bike cage, your backpack, your car, stroller or beach chair (get a 120z/350 ml for your handbag): whichever way you choose your water, juice and smoothies will taste just the way nature intended them to. And nature will thank you for sparing it the plastic.
