When we throw things in the bin we often don’t realise its future impact.
Plastic can last for thousands of years and some materials never break down.
That means if things like empty bottles had been around when the dinosaurs roamed the earth we would still be finding them today.

Check out the Reduce Waste Brochure at Keep Australia Beautiful Website.

State, Territories, Towns Schools and Beaches are encouraged to participate in Keep Australia Beautiful Awards.

All states and territories take part in the Australian Sustainable Cities Awards which encourage, motivate and celebrate the local sustainability achievements of urban communities across Australia.

The iconic Tidy Towns Awards encourage, motivate and celebrate the achievements of rural and regional communities across Australia. Originally focussed on litter reduction and civic pride they now address the environmental, social and economic sustainability of local rural communities. The current winner is Tamworth NSW

Schools can get involved in a number of Keep Australia Beautiful programs.  Schools can enter the Young Legends category within the Australian Sustainable Communities Awards consisting of the Tidy Towns, Sustainable Cities and Clean Beaches Awards.

The Clean Beaches Awards are open to communities that care for their coastal and inland waterways and beaches.
