Go Red, White, Blue, and Green!

4th

The 4th of July is the perfect time of year for fireworks, barbecues, parties, and patriotism. Independence Day is also the perfect time to go green and show others the benefits of living an eco friendly lifestyle.Plan an eco friendly party.  Purchase invitations, paper towels, napkins, and other paper products that are made from recycled paper. After the party, you can continue the cycle by recycling whatever you can. This includes plastic cups and other glass or aluminum products. The most important thing to keep in mind is that Styrofoam should be avoided as much as possible because it can’t be recycled, and it takes 500 years for it to decompose in a landfill.

Encourage carpooling for you and your guests. Carpooling is energy efficient because fewer cars on the road means fewer emissions and less pollution that is harmful to the environment.

Use locally grown foods at your party. Locally grown foods not only help you save money, but they are also good for the environment because producing and delivering food products nationwide and worldwide is a very energy inefficient process.
