Ocean garbage levels are damaging fishing catches. Dealing with garbage is now costing fishermen an ever increasing amount of time. Fishing catches may be decreasing, but inadvertent ocean litter pickups of mostly plastic debris are increasing.

The 9th July, 2009 was a busy day at the Smithsonian National Zoo’s Conservation and Research Center(CRC).  Three endangered species gave birth within a 24 hour period.

Green Trash Can is very excited about the news regarding Lonesome George, the Giant tortoise on the Galapagos Islands.  George was discovered in 1972 and has lived with the Geochelone becki females since 1993.  Green Trash is greatly interested in The Galapagos Tortoise Program.
